Bagac exec wants to pursue greening project

“Huwag natin hayaan ang Bagac na makalbo,” thus said Vice Mayor Ron Del Rosario of Bagac. (Let us not allow Bagac to get denuded.)

The 27-year old town official who acts as acting mayor in the absence of Mayor Ramil del Rosario who is in the United States for a vacation, said it is about time the people of Bagac move to plant trees, more particularly fruit-bearing trees amid the threat of climate change.

In an interview in his office, the youthful vice mayor said he already notified beach owners in Bagac to join the project to protect the environment. “They will be provided seedlings and other planting materials for the project,” Del Rosario said. He said most of the beach owners have committed to play their roles in making the project a success. “We are considering the idea of collecting minimal environmental fee once the project goes full blast,” said Del Rosario who is an environmentalist.

“But we will see to it that the environmental fee shall be uniform, so we have to coordinate with neighboring towns.” Bagac with a population of more or less 32,000 is a third class municipality with an area of 231.20 square kilometers making it the largest town in Bataan in terms of land area.
